Kitchen Plus — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 September 2026

Kitchen Plus helps you track the food in your kitchen, plan meals, and reduce waste. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with.

Kitchen Plus contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking software. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.

Information we collect

DataWhy
Phone numberTo create and sign in to your account. Verified by SMS through Firebase Authentication.
Profile details you enter (name, currency)To personalise the app.
Food inventory, shopping lists, meal plans, and meals marked as eaten or wastedThese are the core features of the app.
Photos of receipts and food you choose to scanTo read item names and prices automatically so you don't have to type them.
Photos of meals you logTo estimate the foods on the plate, their portions and calories. The photo stays on your device.
Barcodes you scanTo look up product and nutrition information.
Recipe links you paste or share into the appTo read the recipe from the page or video and save it under your account.
Your Kitchen Plus Pro subscription statusTo know which features your plan includes. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card.
Household names you add in SettingsNames only, stored with your profile, so a meal you cook can record who ate. No age, sex or weight, and nothing about a member's plate is judged. They are deleted with your account.
Your voice, when you tap the microphone on the Quick log sheetTurned into words by your phone's own speech service (Apple or Google) so you can say what you ate. Nothing is recorded, and no audio reaches Kitchen Plus.
Recipe searches you makeAnswered from the recipe catalogue bundled with the app; nothing you type is sent to a search service. The one exception is a dish name you log that no catalogue knows, which is sent to our AI processing provider for a typical recipe (see below).

Meal-log reminders, if you switch them on, are scheduled on your phone and never sent from a server.

The camera is used only while you are actively scanning. Kitchen Plus does not collect your location, contacts, calendar, browsing history, or a list of other installed apps. If you enable biometric unlock, your fingerprint or face data never leaves your device and is never seen by us — the app only receives a yes-or-no answer from your operating system.

Who your data is shared with

We share only what a feature needs, and only with service providers that do the work for us. None of them receives your phone number, and none may use your data for its own purposes. We list them by what they do rather than by name.

WhoWhat they receive
Our cloud providerHosts your account and all the app data described above.
Our AI processing providerReceipt, food and meal photos you scan, to read item names, prices, portions and calories; the text or video of a recipe link you import, to read the recipe; a dish name you log that the catalogues do not hold, for a typical recipe of it; a scanned product's name, brand and size when nobody has reported its price, for one price estimate; and grocery names, to file them on the right shelf or draw a picture for them. Never your identity.
Link-reading servicesThe address of an Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or YouTube post you import, to fetch its caption and video. The video is kept only while the recipe is read, then deleted. No account details are sent.
Apple, Google and our subscription processorYour account id and your App Store or Google Play purchase, to verify a Kitchen Plus Pro subscription. Never your phone number or kitchen data.
Public food databasesA barcode you scan, to look up the product, and the names of ingredients whose pictures the app shows. Your phone contacts them directly, so they see its network address, as any website you open would. No account details are sent.
YouTubeWhen you play a recipe video, it plays in YouTube's own player, under Google's privacy policy.

If you would like the names of these providers, write to us at the address below.

If you leave Share prices anonymously switched on (Profile & settings), the price you paid for a grocery, its name or barcode, the store and the day are added to a shared price pool that helps every user's shopping list start at a realistic price. Nothing identifying you — no name, account, receipt or the other items on it — is included, and a price is only ever shown to others once several people have reported it.

Keeping your data

Your information is stored for as long as your account exists. Each account can only be read or written by the signed-in owner; this is enforced on our servers, not merely in the app. Data is encrypted in transit.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account inside the app. This permanently removes your profile, inventory, inventory history, receipts and receipt photos, shopping list, meal plans, meals logged, imported and saved recipes, remembered prices, meal photos on the device, your plan record and the matching record at our subscription processor. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Children

Kitchen Plus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
